Following their sensational duo performance at the BERLIN STATE OPERA two weeks earlier - violin virtuoso LIDIA BAICH and husband Heldentenor ANDREAS SCHAGER receive more raving reviews for their Nov 21 concert at the VIENNA STATE OPERA!
"Perfect music making"... “Brilliant high notes! Beautiful, pure timbre! Unmistakable and unique voice.” ... Andreas Schager “together with his wife, violin virtuoso Lidia Baich, told of the historic tragic love couples from music and literature."
“Lidia Baich’s warm, rich violin sound was both contrasting as well as complementing. It was pure sensuality with "Isoldes Liebestod", virtuosity in Sergei Prokofiev’s "Romeo and Juliet" and fabulous magic in Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov's "Sheherezade", op. 35 (arranged by Baich and Fletzberger).”
“The sound of Baich’s violin in duet with Schager’s voice in Wagner's Wesendonck song "Träume" came together for what can only be called perfection. Audience cheering!”

The “Grande Dame of the operatic stage” - ANNA TOMOWA-SINTOW, was cheered and celebrated at Barcelona’s GRAN TEATRO DEL LICEU as Madelon in Giordano’s ANDREA CHENIER!
“Is there such a thing as a perfect operatic evening? There is indeed. In Barcelona, where Jonas Kaufmann proves himself to be the Andrea Chenier of our days, where Sondra Radvanovsky and Carlos Alvarez evoke more than just patriotic cheers, and where Anna Tomowa-Sintow shines brilliantly and movingly in a mature role.
[…] A particular highlight of the evening came from Anna Tomowa-Sintow in the role of the elderly, revolutionary Madelon sending off her only remaining grandson to defend the republic. Far from any kind of revolutionary kitsch, Tomowa-Sintow successfully and most touchingly depicts the brief portrait of this common woman of the Revolution who, after great misfortunes in her life, has been left with nothing but her unbroken dignity. Tomowa-Sintow presented this with true grandeur.” (Oper! - April 2018)
