The Italo-Ecuadorian tenor David Esteban made significant role debuts in the 2022/2023 season as Cavaradossi with Schleswig-Holsteinisches Landestheater, Pinkerton at Vanemuine Theatre in Tartu, and Carlo V. in Verdi’s Giovanna D’Arco at the Estonian National Opera. His subsequent 2023/2024 season included revivals of Giovanna D’Arco in Tallinn, Alfredo in La Traviata in Flensburg and at the Hungarian State Opera in Budapest, and the title role in Britten’s Peter Grimes again with Schleswig-Holsteinisches Landestheater. Successful jump-ins as Prince in Rusalka at Staatstheater Karlsruhe and as Cavaradossi at Theater Bremerhaven underscore his versatility. The 2024/2025 season promises further highlights: he debuts as Don José in Carmen in Quito, Ecuador, and makes his Italian debut as Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly in a production by Renata Scotto at Teatro dell’Opera Giocosa di Savona. His Swiss debut will be as Turiddu in Cavalleria Rusticana in Lausanne. Furthermore, this season includes two productions of Tosca in Łódź, and Faust in Balingen and a New Year’s Concert in Toronto.

From 2018 to 2022, David Esteban was a member of the ensemble at Theater Krefeld Mönchengladbach, where he built a broad repertoire, including Don José, Ismaele (Nabucco), Duca (Rigoletto), Prince (Rusalka), and Tamino. He made his role debut as Rodolfo in La Bohème in Balingen and performed Tamino, Alfredo, and Edgardo in South Korea. On the concert stage, David Esteban has sung Verdi’s Messa da Requiem and Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle in Stuttgart, Bergamo, and Pavia, and Bruckner’s Te Deum. In 2023, he toured with the Orquesta Reino de Aragón, participating in several gala concerts in over 25 cities in China.

David Esteban earned his Bachelor’s degree from the Conservatory in Naples, Italy. In the 2014/2015 season, he was a member of the prestigious Centre de Perfeccionament Plácido Domingo in Valencia, where he sang Flavio in Norma and Abdallo in Nabucco, among other roles. He subsequently obtained Master’s degrees from the Conservatory of Valencia and the Opernschule Stuttgart. In 2022, David Esteban won the Zarzuela/Operetta Prize in the SOI – Scuola dell’Opera Italiana Fiorenza Cedolins Competition, as well as the Best Male Latin American Singer prize. Since 2023, he has been perfecting his technical skills with Donata D’Annunzio Lombardi.
